The Reformation didn't stay in Zurich, more and more provinces joined the Reformation. Some provinces continued with the Catholic doctrine. Throught this, Switzerland was divided into two pieces, the Catholic and Protestant piece. The enmity of the Catholic provinces against the Protestants was large. In 1531 the two armies clashed. The people from Zurich defended there province as heros, but the Catholics were stronger and the army of Zurich was defeated. In this fight Zwingli was killed when he was helping an ill soldier. his body was quartered and burned. The ash was scattered by the wind, but his soul went up to his Saviour, Who had bought him with his blood. When Zwingli was killed, Calvin was 22 years old. He was at the beginning of his task to go further with the Reformation that Zwingli started.
